Overview
This user guide aims to provide an overview of how to add personal as an operator so they can be recorded when logging VHF's as well as managing the crane details such as registration #, average hire & contract lift rates, and the main and additional operator lists per each crane.
This page allows you to:
- Add or remove crane operators
- Manage crane details, including:
- Registration number
- Average hire rate
- Average contract lift rate
- Main operator
- Additional operators
Access Requirements
You must have the following permission:
- Can Manage Operator & Crane Details
To access the page:
- Assets → Operator & Crane Management
Operator Management
Before a person can be added as an operator, they must have:
- An active personnel record
- An active placement
Add an Operator
- Use one of the following to find the person:
- Facility filter
- Asset filter
- Search by name
- Tick the box beside the person.
- Click Add Operator(s).
- Click OK.
The Can Operate Vehicle field will change from No to Yes.
Remove an Operator
- Find the operator using the filters or search.
- Tick the box beside their name.
- Click Remove Operator.
- Click OK.
The Can Operate Vehicle field will change from Yes to No.
Helpful Notes
- Multiple users can be selected at the same time.
- You can only perform one action at a time:
- Add Operators
- Remove Operators
- Once added, operators will automatically appear in the main operator list for their facility (for example, Aberdeen, Glasgow, or Invergordon).
Crane Management
Select the Crane tab at the top of the page to manage crane details.
Find a Crane
Use the available filters:
- Category
- Facility
Once you have located the crane, click the Edit icon.
Update Crane Details
You can update the following information:
- Registration Number
- Enter or update the crane registration number.
- Average Rates
- Update the:
- Average Hire Rate
- Average Contract Lift Rate
- Update the:
- Main Operator
- Select the primary operator for the crane.

- Additional Operators
- Use Add Additional Operators to select one or more operators from other facilities who can also operate the crane.
- These operators will also be available in the crane's operator list.

Save Changes
- After making your updates, click Save.
Using Operator & Crane Information on VHFs
When creating or editing a VHF, the information maintained on this page will automatically populate the following fields:
- Average Hire Rate
- Average Contract Lift Rate
- Main Operator
- Additional Operator(s)
This helps ensure crane and operator information is applied consistently across VHF records.
